Module 1

Introductions

Welcome to WRIT 3500 Writing Design and Circulation. This is the capstone class for the Minor in Writing Practices. A capstone class is a culmination of an academic program, and in this case, it is meant to capture the writing experiences and instruction that you have been a part of thus far at the University of Denver. The major project that you will be completing for this class is an ePortfolio, and you will be composing, producing, and designing activities along the way to contribute to that ePortfolio as well as your own learning.

An ePortfolio is an Electronic Portfolio, hosted on the web, that showcases your work and allows you to present that work for an audience. We will be doing a lot of smaller projects that you will post on the web this term, not all of which may appear in your final portfolio, but they all will be published on the course blog which is publicly displayed; therefore, keep that in mind as you do these activities—everything is for an audience.

Each week, you will be expected to complete the module assigned to that week. On some weeks, you will have a choice of activity to do. Both activities have the same goal–they just get at the goal in a different way. I want you to exercise choice and agency, part of the skills used in curating a portfolio of work. For example, this week, you will post ONE thing: either Who am I? or This is How I Work.
