Module 10

Showcase

It is time to complete your final revisions and portfolio for the class. You should be continuing to work on refining your portfolio this week. Some things to focus on:

  • Revising the Revision assignment. You all received feedback from me, and some received feedback from external review, about your Revisions. The version included in your portfolio will be considered your “final” version, and it will be graded.
  • Design revisions. Apply the feedback you received on your portfolio designs from your reviews.
  • Project edits and revisions. You are encouraged to do some light revision and editing of works you are featuring in your portfolio. These works should represent your versatility and skills in writing. They don’t have to be perfect, but they should represent where you are as a writer.

Your portfolio link is due the last week of class, but there is a peer review that happens in week 8. Your portfolios will be evaluated based on the rubric that we have been using. The primary concerns as an outcome of the class are the domains of “Context, Artifacts, and Materials” and “Design.” You came into the class with “Versatility and Awareness,” although we have provided opportunities for you to feature those abilities in the blog posts, assignments, and the portfolio arrangement.

You will be expected to post a postmortem to the blog, your last blog assignment. A postmortem is a self-analysis of everything that went right (and wrong) in the production of your portfolio, and what you learned from the experience. Postmortems are used a lot in the tech industry and in business as a piece of reflective writing that has a critical perspective with a focus on what you learned. You can start writing your postmortem whenever you want. However, as I point out in the assignment, it’s often interesting to compare your work to others.
